Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program

The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) provides a one-time per season payment to household's primary heat source utility company. It is designed to help with the extra winter heat costs for each eligible household.

Currently the program is available November 1 through March 31 depending on funding availability. Crisis Funding may be available outside of this time.

Participants may apply for Energy Assistance via phone, in certain instances, by email, mail, or in person.

• Verification of Lawful Presence for applicants (Driver's License/Star identification card, Valid US Passport, US military ID, A copy of an executive office of immigration review granting asylee status, indicating that the individual may lawfully remain in the US, or on any other basis that permits the individual to lawfully enter and remain in the United States)
• Social Security cards for all household members
• Proof of prior months' income for entire household
• Your most recent heating bill with name, account number and address
• Your most recent electric bill (if it differs from heating bill) with name, account number and address
